گزارش مربوط به سلامت رهبران در ایران معمولا حتی با وجود شایعات بسیار به اطلاع عموم نمی رسد و تا وخیم شدن وضعیت آنها به شکلی که دیگر قابل پنهان کردن نباشد، منتشر نمی شود.

از جمله این موارد می توان به سرطان خون محمدرضا شاه پیش از انقلاب بهمن ۱۳۵۷ و بیماری سرطان آیت الله خمینی در سال ۱۳۶۸ اشاره کرد.

حسن عارفی، سرپرست گروه پزشکی رهبر پیشین ایران اخیرا به مجله علمی دانش روز که در تهران منتشر می شود، گفته است که بیماری سرطان معده آیت الله خمینی زمانی آشکار شد که او اعلام کرد "اجابت مزاجش به شدت تیره است."

حسن عارفی در توضیح وضعیت پزشکی آیت الله خمینی می گوید که در آزمایش خون او در هفته های پیش از این هیچ گونه اثری از احتمال ابتلا به سرطان یافت نمی شد. "متاسفانه بیماری امام به شدت تهاجمی بود و در نتیجه در کمتر از دو هفته پس از تشخیص، سرطان به اعضای دیگر بدن او از جمله خون و ریه ها، کبد نیز هجوم برد."

جراحی آیت الله خمینی به جای شیمی درمانی

آقای عارفی پیش از این با انتشار کتابی به نام طبیب دل ها، برخی از ناگفته های پرونده پژشکی آیت الله خمینی را منتشر کرده بود.

بر اساس گفته های آقای عارفی، درباره شیوه درمانی آیت الله خمینی اختلاف نظرهایی وجود داشته اما سرانجام با توجه به وضعیت بحرانی او با موافقت احمد خمینی و سران وقت سه قوه (آیت الله علی خامنه ای رئیس جمهور، اکبر هاشمی رفسنجانی، رئیس مجلس و عبدالکریم موسوی اردبیلی، رئیس قوه قضائیه) تصمیم به عمل جراحی گرفته شد.

آقای عارفی در این گفت و گو وجود برخی از شایعات درباره ترجیح عمل جراحی به شیمی درمانی را به صورت تلویحی تایید کرده و گفته "شاید منظور مخالفان شیمی درمانی آیت الله خمینی این بود که "چه خوب شد که این اتفاق رخ نداد تا مثلا برخی از مغرضان در حین استفاده از این روش و در هنگام ریزش محاسن امام از ایشان تصویری تهیه کنند."

در زمان درمان به شیوه شیمی درمانی، موی بیمار تحت درمان، دچار ریزش می شود. با این همه به گفته محمدعلی خوشنویس، عضو تیم پرستاری از آیت الله خمینی، پس از دوبار عمل جراحی او و افزایش مجدد سلول های سرطانی، استفاده از داروی ضد سرطان و شیمی درمانی را آغاز کرد اما "پس از دریافت دومین دوز درمانی ایشان به انفارکتوس وسیع سطح قدامی قلب و ادم [ورم] حاد ریه مبتلا شدند که بلافاصله عملیات احیای قلب آغاز شد اما این اقدامات با توجه به از دست رفتن سایز وسیعی از عضله قلب" منجر به درگذشت او در دقایق پایانی روز ۱۳ خرداد ۱۳۶۸ شد.

خبر درگذشت آیت الله خمینی روز چهاردهم خرداد منتشر شد و ساعاتی بعد از این اعلام مجلس خبرگان رهبری، آیت الله علی خامنه ای، رئیس جمهور وقت را به عنوان رهبر انتخاب کرد.

آقای عارفی درباره شیوه درمان بیماری سرطان آیت الله خمینی که منجر به مرگ او شد، گفته است که این شیوه بهترین اقدام در آن روز بود و از ۲۳ سال پیش تاکنون هم در شیوه درمان این بیماری تحول تازه ای رخ نداده است.

محمدعلی خوشنویس، عضو تیم پرستاری از آیت الله خمینی به مجله دانش روز گفته است که بخش عمده مراقبت ها از رهبر پیشین ایران مربوط به نارسایی و عارضه قلبی او بود و بروز سرطان، آنها را دچار شوکه کرد.

براساس گزارش ها، آیت الله خمینی از زمان ورود به ایران پس از ۱۲ بهمن ۱۳۵۷ و استقرارش در قم بارها دچار حملات و عوارض قلبی شده بود به طوری که سرانجام سوم بهمن ۱۳۵۸ از قم با آمبولانس به تهران منتقل و در بیمارستان قلب بستری شد.

به گفته محمد علی خوشنویس در ششم فرودین ۱۳۶۵ آیت الله خمینی دچار ایست قلبی و ایست تنفسی به مدت ۲ تا ۳ دقیقه شد. وضعیت جسمانی آیت الله خمینی طوری بود که پزشکان حاضر بر بالین او می گویند برای دقایقی علائم حیاتی در او مشاهده نشد اما با انتقال او به بیمارستانی که در کنار منزلش در جماران ساخته شده بود، نجات پیدا کرد.

در این زمان آیت الله حسینعلی منتظری، قائم مقام رهبر جمهوری اسلامی بود و جنگ ایران و عراق که هشت سال به طول انجامید، هنوز در جریان بود.

تردید در وضعیت سلامت آیت الله خمینی در جریان این ایست قلب به حدی جدی بود که به اکبر هاشمی رفسنجانی، فرمانده جنگ و رئیس وقت مجلس که در سفر خوزستان بوده و به آیت الله علی خامنه ای که در خارج از تهران به سر می برده با تلفن اطلاع داده شد که به پایتخت بازگردند اما بعد از مشاهده علائم حیاتی در آیت الله خمینی، به آنها گفته می شود که در بازگشت به تهران عجله نکنند.

بعد از این ایست قلبی با توصیه پزشکان برای آیت الله خمینی باتری داخلی قلب کارگذاشته شد اما به گفته پزشکانش این موضوع به صورت محرمانه باقی ماند و به طور عمومی اعلام نشد.

به گفته یکی از اعضای گروه پرستاران آیت خمینی، برای کنترل سلامت قلب بنیانگذار انقلاب اسلامی یک تیم پزشکی متبحر شامل دو پزشک و چند پرستار متخصص در امور سی سی یو به صورت تمام وقت و ۲۴ ساعته در یکی از اتاق های طبقه اول منزل او حضور داشتند.

به توصیه احمد خمینی هم، در گوشه و کنار منزل، زنگ هایی نصب شده بود تا آیت الله خمینی در صورت احساس ناراحتی با فشار دادن آن، گروه پزشکی را مطلع کند.
